Three Cheers for Scapino!

Fall play a hit!

The Woods Theater took on a Neapolitan flair this weekend, with the MHS Theater Ensemble’s receiving rave reviews for its lively production of Scapino!

This crowd-pleasing slapstick featured superb acting, timely comedy, an amazing set, and bold and creative direction by MHS Director of Theater and Dance Jennifer Jordan. The MHS halls have been buzzing about the show — and with good reason! This talented ensemble brought energy, humor, and heart to each show.

The production starred Alfie Su ’28 as the title character, the crafty Scapino, a servant to Geronte, played by Luz Sanchez ’28. Kat Lunden ’25 played Scapino’s close pal Sylvestro, who is a servant to Argante, played by Maddie Craig ’26. Myles Patton ’27 performed as Geronte’s son Leandro, Linnea Keiser-Clark ’27 was Argante’s son Ottavio, Nell Jacobsen ’27 was Ottavio’s wife, and Charlie Stokes ’27 played Zerbinetta, who is in love with Leandro.

The show also starred Izzy Stewart ’28 as the good-hearted bum Carlo, Alice Zi ’28 as the nurse to Gerante’s long-lost daughter, and Linée Weiner ’28 as the Headwaiter in charge of the bistro. Rounding out the cast were bistro waitresses Sonia Rundle ’27 and Talulah Till ’28, and waiters Mazie Adler ’28 and Sisi Tian ’28.

The play’s technical crew included Stage Managers Izzy Aponte ’26 and Kara Kisselbrock ’26, while Audrey Beers ’25, Kathryn Faulkner ’26, Beta Gu ’26, Romee He ’27, Ava Lawson ’28, Emily Nguyen ’26, and Sophie O’Brien ’27 oversaw props and costumes, and EA Peña ’25 is the Lighting Board Operator. Katie Polebaum-Freeman was the show’s Technical Director.

Mark your calendars for the Winter Musical, Twelfth Night, March 6, 7, 8. We can’t wait!
